Conevisa, Guatemala

Alabama Baptist have been in a partnership with Guatemala for several years. As a result of this partnership, FBC Moody sent their first volunteer mission team over to Guatemala in 2008, along with a team from FBC Ashville.

After our 2nd trip over in 2009, FBC Moody, FBC Ashville and Thomasville Baptist Church entered into a partnership with Shalom Baptist Church in Zacapa to build a church in the small rural village of Conevisa.

In the Spring of 2010, the three U.S. Churches purchased a piece of property and furnished the building supplies to build a beautiful church, which is a Light in the village of Conevisa.

Since that first trip in February 2008 there have been, on the average, two trips a year. We have participated in Medical missions, Construction, Vacation Bible School, Leadership Training and Evangelical Events.

God has opened the doors at the school in the village of Conevisa and we now have a Scholarship Program with 30 students being sponsored by friends here in the U.S. School only goes thru the 6th grade in Conevisa. We have partnered with a private Christian School in a neighboring village to send the children graduating the 6th grade. They now have the opportunity to complete their education through the 12th grade as well as receive Spiritual guidance, Bible Study and Career Training. For more information on the Scholarship Program you many contact Mary Kay King.

The greatest physical need in the village of Conevisa is food and clean water. The children are hungry. We have now begun a feeding program through Shalom Jireh ( the church we built). If you are interested in helping with this ministry please contact Mary Kay King.
